About Me

I guess a bio on a wedding blog should begin with information about my own wedding. I was married in May 2004 in Old Town Alexandria. My (now) husband and I both wanted our wedding to feel like us. That meant non-fussy, a little quirky, and very fun. We found our reception site first—a restaurant that had never had a wedding shut down their place before. We loved how Stardust felt warm and vintagey and best of all—had great food. We ended up having our ceremony around the corner at a dance studio—a clean slate that we could transform. We had no assigned seating, food out all night, a great band, and lots of random things on our menu: sushi, Cuban sandwiches, mashed potatoes. All very us. I don’t remember the light rain. Just our vows (we wrote our own), staying at the bar long past the end of the wedding, and the soy sauce that dribbled down the front of my dress when I finally ate. Now, I live in Canton with the same husband, two kids. Weddings still make me giddy.
