How they met: Jason and I met through a mutual friend, who described him in such glowing terms I had to ask her if he was single. When she realized that I was seriously asking, she nagged him to death to send flowers to me at work. He had met me before, but we'd never really spoken. Luckily for me, he took her advice and sent the flowers! The engagement: I had gotten Jason a gift certificate to go skydiving out near Ocean City, so we decided to make a weekend of it. We got to our hotel late on Friday night, and I was dying to go just "see the water." We took a walk down to the beach under a full moon and the brightest star, which must have been Venus! I was standing with my back to him and his arms around me, as he was telling me how much he loved me—next thing I knew he was on his knee in the sand with the ring! It was a gorgeous night and one I'll always remember! A date they'll always remember: Our first date, which was at Jordan's in Ellicott City. There was a lovely live jazz singer and dinner was fantastic. Wedding design inspiration and colors: Louisiana, which we used as both our ceremony and reception site, has an Old World Southern charm, which really spoke to me. It was important to me that we acknowledge our chosen date as the 50th anniversary of my parents and the 75th anniversary of my grandparents. Because of this, the only real "wedding color" was gold! What was unique about their wedding and favorite details: We did not have traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen. As my mother had passed away several years ago, we chose to honor seven women who are maternal figures in my life. They "gave" me to my husband, in a processional, by each giving a flower to me as I came up the aisle. This bouquet was given to my brother, who placed them in a vase at the front. Most unexpected event on their wedding day: Seeing each other for the first time at the lemonade stand in Fells Point with a crowd of people who did not know us snapping photos on their phones and cheering! Words to describe their wedding: Elegant, classic, and fun! Piece of Advice: Our friend Jen, a wedding coordinator, took care of everything on the actual day. This was a tremendous relief! You should definitely have someone do this for you—enjoy the day! Honeymoon destination: We took a Princess cruise to the Caribbean, which was phenomenal! So much to do, if you want to, and plenty of ways to enjoy doing absolutely nothing!
